Diocesan leader George Komechak died August 8, 2015

Diocesan lay leader George Komechak, 79, died at his home in west Fort Worth on Saturday, August 8, 2015. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marilyn Gilbert Komechak, and a son, Gil Komechak; a daughter, Kim Komechak; two grandsons and a great-grandson. The Rt. Rev. Rayford B. High, Jr., third provisional bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Fort Worth, retires (again) on June 30, 2015. He was elected in November 2012 at the diocesan convention in Stephenville. As a going-away present, the diocesan staff presented him with a yellow labrador retriever puppy. The Rt. Rev. Rayford B.High, Jr., made  his last official visitation before his June 30 retirement to St. Luke’s in the Meadow, Fort Worth. He confirmed  Olivia Wilson, Gabriel Phillips, Caleb Fisher, and T. J. Jennings,and received John Dickinson and Nicholas Busken. There was a reception in the parish hall afterward. Bishop High visits Trinity, Fort Worth

The Rt. Rev. Rayford B.High, Jr., visited Trinity Episcopal Church, Fort Worth, on Sunday, June 14, for a baptism, confirmations and a reception. He baptized Jenna Cleoe Ross, confirmed Viney Polite Chandler, Jon Scott Nishimura, David Stanley, and Caron Lynn Moore-Rico; and  received Mattthew Stephen Pierson.   There was a reception in the parish hall afterward. Frank Reeves honored by Good Shepherd, Granbury

On Sunday, June 7, 2015, the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, Granbury, honored the Rev. Frank B. Reeves and Susan Reeves for their ministry with the congregation. Reeves has been their sustaining priest for the past six-and-a-half years, and Susan has been at his side. The vestry has called and Bishop Rayford B. High, Jr. has appointed the Rev. Good Shepherd, Granbury, calls new priest

The Rev. Suzi Robertson, D.Min, has been called by the vestry of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, Granbury, and appointed by the Rt. Rev. Rayford B. High, Jr., provisional bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Fort Worth, as priest-in-charge. Robertson will begin on July 16, 2015. Judge grants breakaway parties’ motion

On Wednesday, June 10, 2015, the Hon. John P. Chupp granted the Third Motion for Partial Summary Judgment (All Saints’) of the defendant breakaway ACNA parties and denied the Supplemental Motion for Partial Summary Judgment (All Saints’) of the plaintiff Episcopal Parties. In the next few days the parties will confer on a final judgment to be signed by the judge, to include the rulings on March 2 and June 10. Committee seeks comments on proposed canons

The 2012 Diocesan Convention directed the Committee on Constitution and Canons to undertake a multi-year project designed to analyze and overhaul the Constitution and Canons for the Episcopal Diocese of Fort Worth. The committee reviewed governing documents and practices from other dioceses and gathered ideas and recommendations from individuals and groups across the diocese. On Saturday, July 11th, 2015, Faith in Texas will host a day-long workshop in Dallas for 300 leaders who want to organize their faith community for social justice.
