Trinity bus and day trip to General Convention

Trinity Episcopal Church in Fort Worth invites you to bus with them on Saturday, July 7 to General Convention in Austin. If you want a seat on their bus, reserve it quickly! Applications open for Official Youth Presence at General Convention

Applications and nominations are now accepted for high school teens to participate in the General Convention Official Youth Presence (GCOYP) at the Episcopal Church 78th General Convention to be held June 25 – July 3, 2015 in Salt Lake City, UT. In collaboration with the General Convention Office and the president of the House of Deputies, the Office for Youth Ministries is coordinating the application and discernment process for high-school teens to become a part of the GCOYP. The twelve people gathered at St. Christopher Episcopal Church, Fort Worth, on Thursday, October 2, 2014, to take part in the webcast of the church wide meeting of the Task Force for Reimagining The Episcopal Church (TREC) were among 4,000 people who watched the meeting at the National Cathedral online. The 2013 Diocesan Convention November 8-9 in Wichita Falls elected new members of the Standing Committee, deputies and alternates to General Convention, and filled positions on the Disciplinary Board, and elected a lay Trustee to the University of the South, Sewanee. Advancing to General Convention 2015: “Greening and Screening”

Plans are well underway for the Episcopal Church’s General Convention in 2015, with noticeable adaptive changes to reducing the convention’s carbon footprint and to use software and technology to streamline legislative work. Noticeably, laptops, tablets, smartphones, and video monitors will be the primary media of legislative materials. This “convention of screens” will be made possible by a robust Wi-Fi system, which will be available for the first time on the floors of the House of Deputies and the House of Bishops.
