Invitation to racial justice and reparations work

At the 2019 Diocesan Convention, Bishop Eugene Sutton of Maryland spoke powerfully about racial justice and reparations. The convention responded with a resolution that called for the establishment of a Commission on Racial Justice and Reparations. The pandemic intervened, but the work did not stop. Sunday, October 4, 2020, is the Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saints of animals and the environment. Corrie Cabes named assistant rector, Heavenly Rest, Abilene

The Rev. Corrie Cabes will join the staff of the Church of the Heavenly Rest in Abilene as assistant rector in October. Cabes was sponsored for ordination by the Diocese of Fort Worth, and ordained to the priesthood on June 29, 2020, at All Saints’ Fort Worth. She graduated from the Seminary of the Southwest (SSW) in May. Diocesan worship to offer communion every fourth Sunday

The diocesan online worship services will offer communion on the fourth Sunday of the month for the remainder of the year, on September 27, October 25,  and November 22. (The December Eucharist will be available for the 24th/25th.  Details on December services will follow at a later date.)  Communion in this manner will likely continue into 2021.
