Sunday. October 5, 2014, was a busy day in the diocese. In addition to all the regular Sunday worship services, three congregations welcomed new clergy, the Episcopal Church of Hamilton County held an Open House, and the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Granbury hosted a Hymn Fest of Traditional Christian Hymns.
The Episcopal Church of Wichita Falls welcomed the Rev. Amy Haynie, their new priest in charge. Almost 60 people were present. The Rt. Rev. Sam B. Hulsey also was present and offered prayers for the congregation and Haynie’s new ministry. After a potluck lunch, people fetched their animals for a blessing on the lawn.
St. Luke’s in the Meadow, Fort Worth, welcomed the Rev. Karen Calafat, their new rector; and St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, Arlington, welcomed the Rev. Norma Barr, their interim priest.
The Episcopal Church of Hamilton County held an Open House to show off their new building at 1101 S. Rice (Hwy. 281 South), Hamilton, TX 76531. The quilt that will be raffled off at the 2015 Diocesan Convention to benefit the Native American youth of the Episcopal Diocese of South Dakota was on display.
The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Granbury had 75 people attend their Hymn Fest of Traditional Christian Hymns at the Dora Lee Langdon Cultural and Education Center in Granbury. They were pleased at the turnout, noting that half of those present were from congregations other than Good Shepherd.
