Join a Palm Sunday Procession in your car

UPDATE: The Car Palm Procession has been postponed to 1 pm Tuesday, March 31, 2020, because of rain. Thanks for your help with this.

We need your help.

The diocese is offering online worship services for the duration of the public health crisis caused by the coronavirus Covid 19. The suspension of in-person worship services will include Palm Sunday, Holy Week, and Easter. Online worship services for each of this are being planned, but it will involve taping some things early rather than attempting to do them live.

One of these is the Palm Sunday Procession. Since we can’t process in person, we invite you and your family to help us tape a procession in our cars on Monday, March 30, [Update: Tuesday, March 31] at 1 pm at St. Luke’s in the Meadow. Everyone will stay in their cars. This will keep us all a safe distance from one another while letting us “Hosanna” to our hearts’ content. Here’s what you have to do:

Make some posters (if you wish) that say things such as  “Hosanna!” “Hail, King of the Jews!” “Welcome Jesus!” Have some fun with the idea. Think Godspell.

Get into your car with your family and your posters. Drive to St. Luke’s in the Meadow at 4301 Meadowbrook Drive, Fort Worth, TX 76103. Line up along Somerset and Lambeth, the streets to west and north of St. Luke’s parking lot. See maps below.

You will be able to pick up the palms at the curb on Somerset. Get one for each person in your car. At the signal, the entire caravan will begin to drive along  Lambeth to Rand. Turn right on Rand, then right on Meadowbrook, then right on Somerset. As you turn onto Meadowbrook, begin waving your palms out the windows, hold up your signs, and begin shouting “Hosanna!”, “Hail, Jesus, King of the Jews!” and carry on like people greeting a new king, who some are beginning to suspect may be the Messiah.

We will be video taping the cars in procession on Meadowbrook and Somerset.  Please fill out the form below so we know how many people to expect. Thanks for helping us out.
