Thanks to the generous support and coordinated efforts of thousands of Episcopalians and friends, Episcopal Relief & Development’s 75th Anniversary Celebration exceeded its goals for fundraising and engagement throughout the Church and beyond. Donations matched for refugee services

Refugee Services of Texas  has been offered a matching grant through the Deena Jo Heide-Diesslin Foundation of Fort Worth. The Diesslin family is encouraging congregations of all faiths to contribute to the Refugee Services of Texas’ Area of Greatest Need fund. Donations from congregations will be matched by the foundation on a dollar-for-dollar basis, up to a total of $75,000. Refugee ministry of Trinity, Fort Worth, featured in news story

Trinity Episcopal Church, Fort Worth, has adopted a refugee family from the Democratic Republic of Congo. The family fled the violence of warring militia groups, living for years in a refugee camp in Uganda. The family of 10 arrived in Texas in November. St. Elisabeth/Christ the King making Christmas brighter

The congregation of St. Elisabeth and Christ the King, Fort Worth, delivered wrapped shoe boxes filled with gifts for each of the children at Union Gospel Mission. The congregation also delivered eight boxes of diapers and wet wipes for the infants. The choir at St. Elisabeth/Christ the King will present their annual Christmas Concert at 7 pm on Sunday, December 20, at the church. On Wednesday, December 16, Hood County Christmas for Children distributed toys, books, bikes, beds, clothes and other gifts to more than 2,000 families. “Going to Galilee,” a video detailing the 2015 Mission and Outreach Grants of the Mission and Outreach Committee of the diocese, was shown on Saturday, November 14, at diocesan convention at the Botanic Garden Center. In 2011 convention delegates affirmed the principle of the tithe and in 2012 set a goal of reaching 10 percent of the annual assessment being budgeted for charitable purposes by 2018. St. Stephen’s in Hurst has installed a Little Free Library. Small boxes of books like this one are part of a world-wide network to promote literacy. They can be found in public places and in front of homes. The network is monitored and publicized by LittleFreeLibrary.org. The idea is to share good things to read.
