This year’s diocesan budget includes $11,233 for outreach programs within the diocese and $6,479 for programs beyond its geographical boundaries. Mark Daly, chair of the diocese’s Mission and Outreach Committee (a subcommittee of the diocesan Finance Committee) recently wrote to congregations across the diocese, requesting that congregations and ministries submit applications for the budgeted funds by Sept. 1.

The Mission and Outreach Committee, established in 2011 to help administer these funds, will be making awards in two categories:

  • Beyond the Diocese Outreach Impact Program – for special outreach needs beyond the geographical boundaries of the diocese.  Funding available for this category is currently $6,479.
  • Matching Grant Outreach Program – for outreach within the diocese.  These funds are to be used to match or provide seed money for congregations to fund or undertake an outreach need that they could not do on their own. The Matching Grant Outreach Program currently has $11,233.

The committee will accept applications submitted by Sept. 1. An application form is available on the diocesan website. Under Description of Project, please indicate what matching funds you are providing.  Also, if you have received funds in the past, please tell the committee specifically how the money was spent.

The form will be sent to the grant committee at mark.daly@edotn.org.  After reviewing the applications, the Mission and Outreach committee will send recommendations to the diocesan Finance Committee.  Once the grants are awarded, Robert Hicks, the diocesan treasurer, will cut the checks directly to the approved programs.  Please note that he can only write checks to 501-c-3 non-profit organizations.  The committee plans to meet within the first two weeks of September and will let applicants know as soon as possible if their request has been approved.  Checks should start going out soon after the committee approves the grants.

Committee members include Mark Daly, chair (St. Stephen’s Hurst); Cynthia Hill (All Saints Fort Worth); Sandy Shockley (St. Mary Hamilton); and Sharon Whitfield (St. Christopher Fort Worth).
