Diocese offering online worship services 2020

Diocese offering online worship services 2020

This page contains information about online worship services, the link for downloading worship leaflets, and links to sermons preached at the diocesan online services as well as several other sermons offered by clergy in other diocesan services from Palm Sunday through the end of 2020. Information about diocesan worship services for 2021 are here.

The Church is not closed. Some of our buildings are closed to the public, and in-person worship has been suspended in our congregations as we work to care for one another, especially the most vulnerable among us.

But God is with us. Ministry continues.

For as long as necessary, the diocese will be offering an online worship service each Sunday at 10 am at the Diocesan YouTube Channel and at Facebook.com/DioFW

Clergy from several congregations will be taking part in the worship from week to week. You do not need a Facebook account to participate in the worship service. Worship leaflets for each service will be available to download as soon as they are prepared.

Download online worship leaflets here.

Please also check with your own congregations about what online offerings they will be making during this time of crisis.

The Great Vigil

The Great Vigil takes us through the great stories of our faith. Gather together in the darkness around a great fire and listen.

Watch it on the Diocesan Facebook Page at 8 PM. It will also be on the
Diocesan YouTube Channel at 8 pm.

From the worship leaflet:

“For three days we have watched and waited. Tonight we gather in the darkness of the grave seeking the light of the Paschal Mystery. Out of the darkness – fire – a burning bush in the desert, calls us to stop, to remember that we are on Holy Ground. Then we remember. It comes back to us piece by piece – the story of God’s unfailing salvation for the whole world until the last piece falls into place and suddenly Jesus meets us: ‘Greetings!’ “The light has shined in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it.” This is Good News, indeed!”

Maundy Thursday, the Mass on the World

This service is adapted from Georgetown University’s symposium: “Teilhard de Chardin: His Importance in the 21st Century” in commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the death of Teilhard de Chardin (April 9th, 2015).

From the worship leaflet: “This Maundy Thursday, the day on which we traditionally recognize the work of Jesus the Christ to make his Real Presence known through bread and wine, we find ourselves physically separated from each other without Eucharistic bread or wine.  Therefore, we cannot think of a more appropriate way to mark this Maundy Thursday than by celebrating with Telhard in his Mass on the World.

“So join with us wherever you are in God’s grand Creation and re-discover that in the resurrection of Christ all the universe is indeed sacred.”
