Wise County Episcopalians take first steps toward a worshiping community

Nine Episcopalians gathered on Friday, February 6, 2015, to take their first steps toward forming a worshiping community in Wise County. Wise County is approximately 923 square miles, with a population of close to 60,000. Its county seat is Decatur, which is also near the county’s geographical center. A Capital Campaign Committee has been formed, chaired by Floyd McKneely, and a study process is underway to determine the purposes and goals of this campaign. In early November, two Episcopalians in Wise County reached out to the diocesan office through the “contact” feature on the diocesan website, seeking some connection with The Episcopal Church. Christmas Choral Offering presented by St. Elisabeth’s and Christ the King

St. Elisabeth’s and Christ the King presents their annual Christmas Choral Offering on Sunday, December 21 at 7:30pm. The event features a concert by the choir, joined by the congregation for some caroling, and a reception afterwards. “We have a wonderful choir,” said the Rev.
