He celebrated, preached, and confirmed three people and received four, while three people reaffirmed their baptismal vows. St. Alban’s honored by Live Theatre League

St. Alban’s worshiping in Theatre Arlington was recently honored by the Live Theatre League of Tarrant County with the organization’s 2018 Outstanding Service Award. The congregation has been worshiping in Theatre Arlington since late 2008. Their members have been active supporters of the work of the theatre. In March St. Stephen’s in Hurst held the first meeting of a new transgender support group. The need for the group was discerned following the church’s community-wide event “Try Being Me: I’m your LGBTQ neighbor.” Barbara Cutter, St. Stephen’s member, noted that comments from attendees at that event included “I need a friend who will listen to my spiritual questions,” “I need resources to help with my transition,” and “I don’t understand what my teen is telling me.” St. Stephen’s…

Second Court of Appeals opinion favors Episcopal parties

On Thursday, April 5, 2018, the Fort Worth Court of Appeals issued a 178-page opinion in favor of the loyal Episcopalians of the Episcopal Diocese of Fort Worth.  In a decision authored by the Chief Justice, the Court of Appeals reversed the trial court’s 2015 judgment for the breakaway parties and held that the loyal Episcopalians are entitled to control both the Episcopal Diocese of Fort Worth and its Corporation. The Rev. Bradley C. Dyche (pronounced “dike”) has been elected as rector of St. Luke’s, Stephenville. Dyche officially assumes his new role on Easter Day. He originally hails from Enid, Oklahoma and his family’s wheat and cattle farm in Waynoka, Oklahoma. He attended Texas Tech University, where he joined the Canterbury Campus Ministry and gained a sense of community and calling. The annual Chrism Mass was at St. Luke’s in the Meadow, Fort Worth, on Tuesday, March 20.  At the Chrism Mass the bishop gathers with all the priests and deacons for the renewal of their ordination vows. It also is when the bishops blesses the chrism, the holy oils used in the sacraments throughout the year, which are then given to priests to take back to their congregations.
