Anyone, of any age, can make a difference.
Many people in our area recently have faced the despair and pain of massive loss due to natural disasters. A group of concerned youth has decided to take action by putting on Seussical Jr. in hopes of raising $10,000 for disaster relief through Episcopal Relief and Development and United Methodist Committee on Relief.
Seussical Jr., produced and directed by Benjamin Wright, will be performed August 9, 10, 11, and August 16, 17, and 18 at Covenant Methodist Church, 3608 Matlock Rd, Arlington, TX 76015.
Here’s a description of Seussical Jr. from the Broadway Junior Collection: “In this fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza, Tony winners Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty have lovingly brought to life all of our favorite Dr. Seuss characters, including Horton the Elephant, The Cat in the Hat, Gertrude McFuzz, lazy Mayzie and a little boy with a big imagination–Jojo. The colorful characters transport us from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus to the invisible world of the Whos.”
Last year a similar team of young people raised $8,930 for Episcopal Relief and Development with performances of Godspell. With the help of donations and ticket sales, they hope to exceed their goal again this year. Anyone can be a part of this effort.
People can donate directly and/or purchase tickets from seussicaljr2013.eventbrite.com or calling the box office at 469-297-3920.
People can help promote the show on their church’s web site and in other church communications and by getting free posters from the Diocesan Office at 4301 Meadowbrook Drive, Fort Worth, TX, and hanging them at their church or at nearby stores.
And, of course, people can come see the show! It’s a fun way to support God’s youth making a difference.
