Deacon Janet Nocher offers the following information about opportunities for ministry, open to both lay and ordained people.
1. Looking for a Lenten discipline? Baylor All Saints Hospital needs three Noonday Prayer readers to read once a week on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays in the hospital chapel. If interested call Deacon Nocher at 817-292-1786 or Sally Proffitt at 817-917-7630. This ministry also could continue after Easter.
2. An Episcopalian in the diocese is in need of a kidney transplant and is on dialysis now. The New York Times has reported that in the United States in 2013, there were about 16,900 kidney transplants, while the waiting list for kidneys currently exceeds 100,000 patients. The average wait time for a transplant has risen to almost five years; more than 4,000 people die each year while waiting, and a great many more become too sick to undergo transplantation and are dropped from the wait lists. If you are willing to investigate the possibility of donating a kidney, please call Deacon Nocher at 817-292-1786.
