Is your congregation wrestling with an issue, trying to make a decision? Bring a group to Advent Lutheran on Saturday, April 6, to learn a practice that will help your members communicate more effectively while listening for God and each other.
“Thriving in Change” offers a proven process for deep listening to God, one another, and your neighbor. A team from your congregation can learn how to make time and space for God to be part of your church’s life and decision-making. The one-day, hands-on working / coaching day is sponsored by the Episcopal Diocese of Fort Worth, the Northern Texas-Northern Louisiana ELCA Mission Area, and Mansfield Church of Christ.
Bring your whole vestry / leadership team to the April 6 event, and bring a question to discern that the group is facing right now. Your group will actually work on your issue at the event, gaining skill as you practice a group discernment process. You’ll get coaching and feedback on the spot, and take home your own kit of Thriving in Change materials, along with tips for troubleshooting the process and continuing to use your skills back home in your congregation.
Dr. Pat Taylor Ellison of Church Innovations has led dozens of church teams in this process and will facilitate. Registration costs $35 per person for up to six team members. Your additional team members above six cost only $10 each. The event will begin at 9am and last until 3pm, at Advent Lutheran Church, 3232 South Cooper Street, Arlington. Lunch is included.
