Diocesan Outreach
At the 2013 Diocesan Convention (November 8-9 in Wichita Falls), diocesan treasurer Robert Hicks reported to convention delegates that in 2013 the Episcopal Diocese of Fort Worth gave $17,785 to outreach causes beyond the diocese and $15,158 within the diocese, for a total charitable giving of $32,943 – 6.39 percent of assessment. An additional $29,546.41 was received and passed on for disaster relief, ERD, and UTO.
Diocesan reps carry greetings to Niobrara
Sandy Shockley and Deborah Nichols, both from St. Mary Hamilton, will attend the 141st Niobrara Convocation June 17-23, on the Lower Brule Reservation in the Diocese of South Dakota. The Niobrara Convocation – an annual gathering of the Lakota, Dakota, and Nakota peoples – has been termed “one of the most important events of the missionary work of the Episcopal Church in the United States.”
Outreach at St. Christopher Fort Worth
In one week, the St. Christopher Mission, Outreach & Evangelism raised enough donations to purchase 66 new coats, one for each child currently residing at the Presbyterian Night Shelter. Each coat was purchased for a specific child, with sizes ranging from 3 months to medium women’s.
