Covid-19 Emergency Grant Program for deacons
The Fund for the Diaconate of the Episcopal Church has created a special Emergency Grant Program to aid deacons affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. Deacons in good standing in The Episcopal Church, who have been laid off, furloughed, or otherwise had their employment hours cut back or eliminated, are eligible to apply. Grants will cover the time-period of March 1, 2020 – Sept. 30, 2020, with applications being accepted until Oct. 15, 2020. Grants of $525 per month will be made…
Deacons have new assignments
Two deacons in the diocese have new assignments that will begin September 1.. The Rev. Tracie Middleton will begin serving at Trinity, Fort Worth, with a focus on mission and outreach work. Middleton came to the diocese in 2011. She is currently serving at St. Stephen’s, Hurst. She will continue as communications and ministry support officer for the diocese, a position she’s held since 2014. She recently become co-chair of a newly formed Young Deacon Task Force within the Association of Episcopal Deacons.…
Lisa Neilson and Lynne Waltman ordained deacons January 15
The Rt. Rev. J. Scott Mayer ordained Lisa Neilson and Lynne Waltman to the Sacred Order of Deacons on Friday, January 15, 2016, at St. Martin-in-the-Fields, Keller. The Rt. Rev. Rayford B. High, Jr., preached. Neilson, a cradle Episcopalian, was baptized and confirmed in the Diocese of Colorado. She was active in the Episcopal Campus Ministry at Syracuse University and served in a parish near the campus as a Lay Eucharistic Minister, lector, and clerk of the vestry. She and…
