St. Martin-in-the-Fields Episcopal Church, Keller, announced on Tuesday, December 2, that their new, and third, rector is the Rev. Scot McComas. He will start on February 9, 2015.
McComas has spent ten years in ordained ministry, with experience in parishes and schools in Florida, North Carolina, New Jersey, and most recently, two parishes and the Parish Episcopal School in the Episcopal Diocese of Dallas. He is a graduate of Southern Methodist University, Harvard Divinity School, and General Theological Seminary, as well as the College of Preachers.
“He has a proven track record of preaching, teaching, fostering stewardship, community outreach, congregational growth, Episcopal schools and pastoral care,” said Senior Warden Bob Bess.
“We have agreed with Father Scot for him to complete his chaplaincy and teach his remaining semester at Parish Episcopal School, an affiliation with Church of the Transfiguration. He will then join us full time on June 1, 2015.“
McComas will celebrate and preach at the 5 pm service at St. Martin’s on Saturday, December 13. There will be a dinner afterward at which people can meet the new rector.
