The Rev.Tracie Middleton encourages anyone wanting current local information about the areas affected by tornadoes to consider these sources:
The Hood County News is updating their website regularly. It seems to be functioning right now as sort of a message board with details about different types of services (pet shelter, food distribution, veterans’ services,etc.). It’s an eclectic mix, but has contact information for how to access specific services or assist with specific needs.
For example, it mentions that food is coming in through the Tarrant Area Food Bank, so if people want to donate food, the list of foods and household products the food bank accepts is here.
Another bit of information is for people who would like to volunteer individually or as a small group: “Those who would like to volunteer in any capacity should register with Shanan Olsen at 817-776-0918. Olsen is handling the volunteer registration for the county through the Emergency Operations Center (EOC).”
The Hood County chapter of Habitat for Humanity has donation information on their home page.
In Johnson County, the Cleburne Times-Review has a setup similar to the Hood County News, with updated news and connections to resources. The Times-Review published this article about the tornado resource center that local officials have set up in Cleburne: Tornado resource center ready to help.
