The 5th annual Episcopal Diocese of Fort Worth altar guild meeting was held at St. Martin-in-the-Fields Episcopal Church on Saturday, February 23, 2013 with approximately 50 participants. Seven churches in the diocese were represented: St. Luke’s in the Meadow – Fort Worth, St. Luke – Stephenville, Trinity – Fort Worth, Christ the King – Fort Worth, St. Alban’s – Arlington, St. Christopher -Fort Worth, and St. Martin-in-the-Fields – Keller.
Altar guild members worshiped together in St. Martin’s sanctuary. They altar guild rededication reaffirmed members’ commitment to service. The Rt. Rev. Rayford B. High, Jr., our bishop, celebrated the Holy Eucharist.
After worship, diocesan altar guild directress Marion Cole led the business meeting. Members were introduced and ideas were shared. Bishop High shared some of his altar guild experiences, with tales both informative and humorous. As with any Episcopal gathering, the food was outstanding, thanks to the ladies at St. Martin.
Dolly Bush reported on the Loan Closet and its contents, emphasizing that its contents are not only for our diocese, but others throughout the US. She related a request from the Episcopal Church in South Carolina, as they face a similar situation as our diocese faced while reorganizing.
