Diocesan clergy are urged to renew their certifications in Safeguarding God’s People — both the anti-exploitation module and the anti-harassment module — at trainings offered June 2 and 9 at All Saints Episcopal Church, 5001 Crestline Road, Fort Worth, TX 76107. The June sessions are open to clergy only; the same modules will be offered in August for laity only.
For clergy, “Preventing Sexual Exploitation” will be taught Monday, June 2, 6-9 p.m. and will address issues of exploitation in pastoral relationships. “Preventing Sexual Harassment,” scheduled for Monday, June 9, 6-9 p.m., addresses compliance with anti-sexual-harassment laws and church policies.
The Rev. Melanie Barbarito will serve as facilitator for both modules. Pre-registration is required to ensure materials for all participants; there is no charge for the training. Register by calling or emailing the diocesan office (817-534-1900, michele.king@edotn.org), no later than the Friday prior to the training. (May 30 for “Preventing Sexual Exploitation” and June 6 for “Preventing Sexual Harassment.”)
Dates, times, and locations for other “Safeguarding” trainings are listed in this earlier post and on the diocesan calendar. Opening the calendar in a separate window and selecting the “Agenda” view from among the tabs on the upper right of the window will allow you to search for all “Safeguarding” events.
For more information, or to schedule a Safeguarding training in your congregation or deanery, please call or email the diocesan office: 817-534-1900, michele.king@edotn.org.
