The plight of the unaccompanied children arriving on the Texas border and that of other states has dominated news reports recently. Bishop Rayford B. On Tuesday, July 1, The Episcopal Church Office of Finance issued a mid-year updated report on diocesan commitments. In the report, N. Kurt Barnes, Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer, announced “that all Episcopal dioceses located in the United States and nearly every non-United States diocese have committed to the 2014 budget of The Episcopal Church.” Barnes reported that “42 dioceses have committed to the full 19% asking level adopted by General Convention 2012.” The Episcopal Diocese of Fort Worth is one of…

Executive Council passes Safeguarding & background policies; approves grants

The Executive Council of the diocese met Saturday, May 17, 2014, at St. Luke in the Meadow Episcopal Church, Fort Worth. The council passed bylaws for the council, a policy on Safeguarding programs, a policy on background checks, and an employee’s handbook for diocesan staff. They approved a grant to St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, Fort Worth, for $12,500. They also approved a grant to St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, Hurst, of $20,000. Bishop High visits Good Shepherd, Granbury

The Rt. Rev. Rayford B. High, Jr., visited the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, Granbury, on Sunday, June 29, 2014. Since it was the fifth Sunday of the month, the congregation brought food items for the local food bank. The pile of canned and dry goods grew steadily as people arrived for the service. The 2014 Diocesan Convention will be held in Arlington, Texas, on November 14-15, 2014. This will be the 32nd Convention of the Episcopal Diocese of Fort Worth. The convention will be held at the Jack Daniel’s Club (formerly the Diamond Club) at Globe Life Park (formerly Rangers Ballpark in Arlington).  Parking will be in parking lot K, directly across Ballpark Way from the entrance to the club. Parking on the surface lots is free. Registration dates & fees for the 2014 Diocesan Convention

The 2014 Diocesan Convention will be held in Arlington, Texas, on November 14-15, 2014 at Globe Life Park in Arlington. The deadline for registration of lay and clerical delegates, alternates, and visitors is October 14, 2014.  After that date, registrants will incur late charges. Registration on or before October 14, 2014, is $50 for one day and $80 for both days. Registration after October 14, 2014 is $60 for one day and $95 for both days.
