The Rt. Rev. Michael B. Curry was elected presiding bishop of The Episcopal Church on Saturday, June 27, 2015, at the 78th General Convention in Salt Lake City. Bishops Rayford B. High, Jr., and Scott Mayer participated in the election and deputies from Fort Worth were among those voting to confirm the election. The Rt. Rev. Rayford B. High, Jr., third provisional bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Fort Worth, retires (again) on June 30, 2015. He was elected in November 2012 at the diocesan convention in Stephenville. As a going-away present, the diocesan staff presented him with a yellow labrador retriever puppy. The Rt. Rev. Michael B. Curry, bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of North Carolina, was elected as the 27th presiding bishop of The Episcopal Church on June 27, 2015. Curry was elected by the House of Bishops on the first ballot, with 121 votes. Dabney Smith received 21 votes, Thomas Breidenthal received 19 votes, and Ian Douglas received 13 votes. Remember all prisoners, and bring the guilty to repentance and amendment of life according to your will, and give them hope for their future. St. Luke’s in Stephenville vandalized
A 27-year-old man is in jail for criminal mischief after entering St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Stephenville and causing extensive damage while reportedly under the influence of some type of drug. As reported by the Stephenville Empire-Tribune, Jeffrey Travelstead was arrested by the Stephenville Police around midnight after a person driving past the church noticed him outside, setting items he had taken from the church in the middle of the road. “God’s Geeks” help bridge the digital divide
Trinity Episcopal Church recently held another “God’s Geeks” session to educate parishioners about online communications and help them master their digital devices. Folks who need a helping hand may contact the church to set up one-on-one appointments during dedicated “Geek” sessions. During these times, church volunteers are on-hand to troubleshoot and guide digital novices. Some volunteers are well-versed in Apple products; others specialize in PC or Android platforms. Bishop High visits St. Luke’s, Fort Worth
The Rt. Rev. Rayford B.High, Jr., made his last official visitation before his June 30 retirement to St. Luke’s in the Meadow, Fort Worth. He confirmed Olivia Wilson, Gabriel Phillips, Caleb Fisher, and T. J. Jennings,and received John Dickinson and Nicholas Busken. There was a reception in the parish hall afterward.
