Make MLK Day a day on, not a day off
For several years now, Martin Luther King Day has been observed by many individuals and organizations as a day of service, a day of giving back to the community, instead of a day off. Last year, Bishop Scott Mayer led a group of several dozen Episcopalians who volunteered at several different places during the day. Bradley Dyche to be installed as rector in Stephenville
In a Celebration of New Ministry, Bishop Scott Mayer will formally install the Rev. Bradley Calloway Dyche as rector of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Stephenville, at 7 pm Tuesday, January 29. Gingerbread housing development at St. Christopher
The St. Mary Chapter of the Junior Daughters of the King (JDOK) sponsored a gingerbread house making event on Sunday, December 9, immediately after St. Christopher’s 10:30 am service. Members of St. Elizabeth Chapter of DOK and other members of the parish provided candy, cereals, and other decorations for these buildings. On page 506 of The Book of Common Prayer of The Episcopal Church is An Order for Burial. It lays out in clear language the order of the service, which remains essentially the same, no matter who is being buried. Everything is grounded in the hope of the Resurrection.
