The Diocesan Policy Review Committee is seeking people interested in serving on the committee.
The Policy Review Committee is a committee of the Executive Council. Each year following the Diocesan Convention the Bishop appoints at least five members to the committee. The term of office is one year.
The Policy Review Committee collects, reviews, and distributes new and revised policies and procedures. The chancellor’s office assists in determining when policies may be required by action of General Convention, Diocesan Convention, or changes in civil laws. Diocesan staff, councils, committees, commissions, and ministries are “responsible for identifying areas that are in need of new or revised policies or procedures, for recommending appropriate policy statements and procedures, and for assuring adherence to established policies and procedures in the conduct of their affairs,” according to the Policy on Policies. The ability to initiate policies is not limited to committees. Anyone can propose a policy.
The appointed members of the Policy Review Committee are either clergy canonically resident in the diocese or lay communicants in good standing in a congregation of the diocese. The bishop, the chancellor, and the ministry developer or canon are ex officio members.
Skills needed include experience or training in policy development.
If you are interested in being considered for appointment to the Policy Review Committee, please contact Demi Prentiss at or 817-534-1900 by March 31.
