Clive Driskill-Smith, the new organist and choirmaster for All Saints’ Episcopal Church, Fort Worth, will present an organ recital at 7:30 pm Friday, October 19, at the church. There is no admission charge, and a reception for all will follow the recital.
Driskill-Smith will play Fantasia in G major by J.S. Bach, Adagio and final from Symphony No. 3 by Louis Vierne, and Noel Rawsthorne’s Hornpipe Humoresque, among other work.
As organist and choirmaster, Driskill-Smith continues the tradition of beautiful Anglican choral and organ music at All Saints’. He was preceded by Frederick Grimes, who retired September 9 after 24 years as the church’s organist and choirmaster.
Driskill-Smith, considered one of the leading organists of his generation, has been heard in recital on three occasions at All Saints’ Episcopal Church. Critics have praised his “blazing technique” and “unbelievable virtuosity” (American Guild of Organists) and described his performances as “intensely moving” and “truly breathtaking” (Organo Pleno, Melbourne).
