In the announcement of Moore’s death to the congregation, the Rev. Doug Travis wrote, “Ian Moore was much more to the parish than its Verger of course. As those of you who have been part of the Good Shepherd community over the last 12 years know, he was instrumental in sustaining the health of and growing our community after the departure from the old property. He will be much missed.”
Moore was an active participant in the efforts by the Episcopalians of Good Shepherd to remain in The Episcopal Church during the lead up to the departure of a former bishop and many diocesan leaders from The Episcopal Church, as well as in the aftermath of their departure. He was a participant in the reorganizing and rebuilding of the diocese and in the flourishing of Good Shepherd. His devotion to God and to Good Shepherd was inspiring.
Over the years, Moore served in a variety of church roles, including as junior warden of St. Mark’s in Arlington, senior warden and chair of the Building Fund Committee at St. Peter & St. Paul in Arlington, and for many years as senior warden at Good Shepherd. He was a Lay Eucharistic Minister for 35 years.
The obituary in the Hood County News said, “Ian proudly served his country as a United States Marine and was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was very dedicated to his Lord and was involved in numerous church activities. Ian had a keen sense of humor and loved to joke with his many friends from Church and those he knew through his years in Business, Sales and Real Estate.
“Ian is survived by his loving wife [Michelle]; four sons; and six grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all.”
May he rest in peace and rise in glory.
