The twelve days of the Christmas Season begin with Christmas. Christmas Eve is observed with a celebratory worship service. This nearly always includes traditional Christmas carols, and often a pageant, usually put on by the children reenacting the Nativity of Jesus. The principal worship service in an Episcopal church goes by several names: Holy Communion, the Eucharist (a word which literally means “thanksgiving” – you can hear it pronounced here), the Lord’s Supper, the Mass. It is the family meal for Christians and a foretaste of the heavenly banquet. Whatever it is called where you worship, all are welcome, no exceptions.
