Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Granbury will host its second Hymn Fest on Sunday, November 1 at 3:00 pm. The First Christian Church – Disciples of Christ, in Granbury, located on Hwy 377, is offering space for the event.
Everyone in the diocese and in the community around Granbury is invited, said Good Shepherd’s Senior Warden, Ian Moore. “It’s an enjoyable, uplifting event.” There will be a reception afterwards for people to visit and meet each other, since it is hoped the Hymn Fest will draw participants from various church backgrounds.
The Hymn Fest will feature some of the best-loved music in the Episcopal tradition, accompanied by organ, piano, percussion, harp and flute. Moore explained how the hymns are selected. “For the past year or so, whenever we sing something that it seems like everyone immediately knows the words to and that is moving to sing, we ask the organist add it to the list.”
Last year’s Hymn Fest was held at the Langdon Center in Granbury, and the number of people attending exceeded the 77 seats available, so Moore approached the First Christian Church, which has a seating capacity of about 225, and they were pleased to partner with The Episcopal Church in this event.
