The Rev. Robert Morgan “Bob” Tarbet, Jr., died on Wednesday, April 21, 2016, in a diving accident. While the specific cause is still unknown, Tarbet was a very experienced diver and loved the sport, according to friends. The funeral will be at 2 pm Saturday, May 7, at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, Waco. Map.

Tarbet was serving as permanent supply priest at The Episcopal Church of Hamilton County (St. Mary’s) in Hamilton, TX, at the time of his death.
“Bob has been a friend for many years as was his brother David,” High said. “I’m shocked and so deeply saddened by his loss.”
Tarbet graduated from the Seminary of the Southwest in 1973 and was ordained deacon and later priest in 1974. Tarbet served as rector of Trinity, Marble Falls; vicar of St. Luke’s, Lindale and Christ Church, Matagorda, and as supply following his retirement in 2000. He also served as a chaplain in the U.S. Army from 1977 through 1989. Tarbet is predeceased by his brother, who also served as a priest of the Diocese of Texas, the Rev. David Tarbet.
