Bob Schorr shares church planting wisdom

October 12-16 the Diocese of Fort Worth will host Bob Schorr, coordinator for congregational development for the Diocese of Texas. Schorr will tour Parker County, the Haslet area, and the Cleburne area, meeting with local leaders and offering insights on church planting.

Sunday, October 13, all in the diocese who would like to learn more are invited to spend the day in Parker County. All are invited to worship with St. Francis Episcopal Church, Willow Park at 9:30am. After worship, the congregation will host a brunch, which will feature a brief presentation by Schorr. A tour of eastern Parker County will visit prospective sites and survey significant community sites.

Sunday afternoon, anyone wanting to know more about the process of church planting is invited to St. Christopher Episcopal Church, Fort Worth at 4pm for refreshments, a presentation by Schorr, and a question and answer session. The day will conclude with a no-host dinner, offering another opportunity for conversation with Schorr.

On Monday, Schorr and local church leaders will tour the Haslet area. Schorr will consult with Bishop Rayford High and the standing committee at their 3:30pm meeting at Trinity, Fort Worth.

Tuesday Schorr will wind up his visit with a tour and lunch meeting with community and church leaders in the Cleburne area, focusing on development in the area surrounding the soon-to-be-opened Chisholm Trail Parkway. Convening the group will be The Rev. Curt Norman, rector of St. Luke Episcopal Church, Stephenville and church planting team leader for the executive council’s congregation development workgroup.

If you’d like to attend any of the events scheduled with Bob Schorr, please indicate by October 9 which ones you’ll be attending. You may contact Eleanor Doty (eleanor.doty@edotn.org, 817-534-1900) in the diocesan office to RSVP, so that food and transportation can be arranged as appropriate for everyone in the group.
