The Rt. Rev. Rayford B. High, Jr., visited St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, Hurst, on Sunday, July 13, 2014. St. Stephen’s worships in the Northeast Wedding Chapel in Hurst.
He baptized Gwenn Anne Burud and Gavin Le Burud, confirmed Gwenn Anne Burud and Sandon Wards, received Nicole Maria Silva, Steven Hederer, and Judy Crawford and blessed the reaffirmation of Thomas Crawford.
He also blessed a chalice and paten given in memory of Florence McKneely by the McKneely family.
He presented graduation certificates to Education for Ministry Program (EFM) graduates Marilyn Jones, Jo Pierce, Shannon Singer, and Jason Tardiff. EFM is a four-year program of theological education for laity under the direction of The School of Theology at the University of the South, Sewanee. Tardiff also was certified as a lay preacher for St. Stephen’s.
The congregation heard an update on the remodeling of their new worship space at 463 Harwood Drive in Hurst, to which they plan on moving in late August. They are on schedule to hold their first worship service in the new building, which they are dubbing St. Stephen’s in the plaza, on August 24.
Prior to the service, there was a breakfast in the reception hall at the Wedding Chapel where St. Stephen’s worships.
