The Rt. Rev. Rayford B. High, Jr., confirmed seven young people and received two adults into The Episcopal Church during his visitation to St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Stephenville, on Sunday, October 19, 2014. The Rev. Curt Norman is the rector at at. St. Luke’s.
Those confirmed were Suzanne Meyers, Hannah Binkley, John Binkley, Carter Cole, Taylor Hefner, Karina Norman, and Kelvin Ong. Helen Ong and Julia Smith were received into The Episcopal Church. Margaret Norman took the featured photograph.
An emergency drill across the street at Tarleton State University was going on at the same time as the 10 am worship service, and the sounds of helicopters and sirens added an exciting background to the morning worship.
Bishop High assured the congregation that he will be voting early so he can come back to Stephenville for the annual Election Day Mexican Supper (or lunch) at St. Luke’s. For the past 50 years, St. Luke’s has been serving all comers the famous St. Luke’s chili and stacked enchiladas – with fried egg, if desired. All the funds raised from the Mexican Supper are returned to the community through various donations and gifts.
