Assisting Bishop Rayford B.High, Jr., visited the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd on Sunday, September 11, to perform baptisms, confirmations and receptions.
It was a day of many celebrations, as the choir wore its new vestments for the first time and the baptismal font was dedicated. The Rev. Frank Reeves, Good Shepherd’s sustaining priest for many years, and his wife Susan also joined in the celebration.
Blaire Elizabeth Stanfield and Tanner Hodge Stanfield were baptized. Ruth Shelby Bagby, Vanessa Leigh Back, Sally Jane Stanfield, Jason Ray Stanfield, and Judith Lynn Walton were confirmed. James Morrow Walton was received.
Prior to the worship service, Bishop High, the Rev. Suzi Robertson and much of the congregation gathered at acreage recently given to the church to expand the mission and ministry of Good Shepherd in the Diocese of Fort Worth as part of The Episcopal Church. A bagpiper led them onto the land for a blessing of the property.
“Grant that this land may be a place where your will is done and your name is glorified,” Bishop High prayed. The Litany for the Mission of the Church was said, the land was censed and blessed, and the piper led them all as they sang Amazing Grace.
