The Rev. Amy Haynie was instituted as priest in charge of the Episcopal Church of Wichita Falls during a Celebration of a New Ministry on Wednesday, December 10, 2014. The Rt. Rev. Rayford B. High, Jr., celebrated and preached.
She was called by the congregation in September 2014.
The liturgy began with recognition and presentation of gifts to the several circuit riding priests who came out of retirement to serve congregations in Wichita Falls following the reorganization of the diocese in early 2009. They are (front row, L-R) the Rt. Rev. Sam B. Hulsey, the Rev. Courtland Moore, the Rev. Maurine Lewis, the Rev. Mike McEwen, (Back Row, L-R) the Rev. Bill Nix, the Rev. Gayland Pool, the Rev. John Payne, and the Rev. Bruce Coggin. The Rt. Rev. Steve Charleston was unable to attend. Payne served St. Stephen’s, Wichita Falls, and all the others served All Saints, Wichita Falls.
Each was presented with a wooden writing pad holder on which was engraved ‘Grateful appreciation to our Circuit Rider,” followed by their names, 2009-2014, and the name of the congregation.
Haynie’s husband, David, and her youngest son, Ben, were there. Her oldest son, Sam, was in the midst of college finals and could not attend. A reception was held in the parish hall following the service.
