On Thursday, December 5, December 12 the Christian Formation Commission of the Episcopal Diocese of Fort Worth will present an Advent Liturgy of Remembrance and Light: When Christmas Hurts. It will be at 7 PM at St. Christopher Episcopal Church, 3550 Southwest Loop 820, Fort Worth, TX. A reception will follow. All are welcome.
Renowned singer, composer, and sound healer Ms. Ana Hernandez will lead the service, which she developed with the Rev. S. Elizabeth Searle to help those for whom Christmas is a painful time. The service acknowledges loss, honors grief, and facilitates remembrance in the context of music, scripture, and worship. Each person may bring light into their Advent journey by lighting a candle. Clergy will be available to bless and pray with those who wish to come forward. She has led the service in parishes across The Episcopal Church.
Ms. Hernandez, who recently moved to Dallas, has produced several albums. She and Ms. Deborah Griffin Bly were the internationally known duo Miserable Offenders who sang throughout the Anglican Communion, including the 1998 Lambeth Conference. She has written a book, The Sacred Art of Chant: Preparing to Practice, and recorded the album Inside Chants with Ruth Cunningham.
Other albums include Blessed by Light and Eternal Spirit.
