4Saints Episcopal Food Pantry is part of North Texas Giving Day on Thursday, September 17, 2020. Early giving began September 1, so you can donate right now.
North Texas Giving Day, a project of Communities Foundation of Texas, is an 18-hour online giving event designed to “empower every person to give back to their community by supporting local nonprofits and causes they care about in one easy-to-use platform.”
4Saints Episcopal Food Pantry is a ministry of the East Deanery of the Episcopal Diocese of Fort Worth, the purpose of which is to help serve the nutritional needs of those seeking assistance in Tarrant County. It is housed at St. Luke’s in the Meadow Episcopal Church at 4301 Meadowbrook Drive, and currently serves 125-140 families each Friday of the month. Most months the total number of families served is 496. Those numbers are significantly higher than a year ago, with the Covid 19 pandemic causing economic struggles for many families.
4saints also hosts a once monthly Tarrant Area Food Bank mobile pantry, Food For All. At this event they serve approximately 350 families each month, which makes a total of 1,640 families per month helped with food.
COVID-19 restrictions means each distribution is a drive-through process, with volunteers putting pre-bagged groceries into the clients’ cars. While safer and more efficient, the downside is that removes the dignity of shopping and selecting one’s own groceries. But keeping customers and volunteers safe is the highest priority for the duration.
Make a donation so 4Saints can keep making a difference.
