The 4 Saints Food Pantry, a start-up ministry conducted by the four parishes of the Fort Worth East Deanery, has been awarded a $20,000 Mission Enterprise Zone Grant from The Episcopal Church. It was one of several grants totaling $1,797,000 for church planting and Mission Enterprise Zones announced by the Executive Council of The Episcopal Church at its October meeting.
Resolution D005 and Resolution A012, approved by General Convention in July 2015, authorized new and continued funding for church plants and Mission Enterprise Zones throughout The Episcopal Church. Patricia Callahan of St. Luke’s, president of the 4 Saints board, wrote the grant application and shepherded it through the process. She said the grant would allow them to begin purchasing equipment required for a licensed food pantry.
4 Saints will operate out of St. Luke’s in the Meadow Episcopal Church. Fort Worth. Eventually the food pantry will formally partner with the Tarrant Area Food Bank. St. Luke’s, St. Martin’s, Keller-Southlake; St. Stephen’s, Hurst, and St. Alban’s worshiping in Theatre Arlington all have instituted a “17 on the 17th” fundraiser after learning that 17 cents will purchase a pound of food at the food bank.
