Ellen Whitley

Ellen has been an Episcopalian for 50 years and loves everything about the Episcopal rite. She has served over the years as a Lay Leader, Lay Eucharistic Minister, Lay Reader, clerical worker, altar guild member, and a Daughter of the King.

Ellen has been trained in all things “office,” and her last job was Administrative Assistant to The Vice President of Athletics at The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, TX. Ellen was the first secretary for The Episcopal Student Center at Texas A&M, working for the Chaplain. Then she became the first secretary for the mission of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, DeSoto, TX (now the parish of St. Anne Episcopal Church). The priest likes to tell the story of how Ellen interviewed him, instead of the other way around, when she came in to inquire about the job! During her time at St. Anne, she was active in Daughters of the King and licensed to minister to those who were sick by taking Communion to them. Ellen was always active in altar guild and choir. She is a licensed Lay Eucharistic Minister.

Ellen’s hobbies include reading, gardening, and fishing. She and her husband, Marquis, have been married for 40 years.
