The University of the South has been formative and transformative in my life and vocation as a Deacon through the Education for Ministry Program. I was a student in EfM from 1983 – 1987. In 1986, I was trained as an EfM mentor and have mentored EfM groups in the Episcopal Dioceses of Northwest Texas, Oklahoma, Alabama, Texas, and Ft. Worth. I have attended various educational and training events at the University of the South School of Theology such as a Deacons’ Conference and EfM Diocesan Coordinator’s Training. This past April I led training at the School of Theology for EfM Coordinators. Though I have not attended seminary, The University of the South is an academic home for me through the Education for Ministry Program. It would be an honor to serve as trustee.
Marriage and family are important to my life, and I spend lots of hours traveling with my husband to see our three children and nine grandchildren. We have been married almost 45 years and are enjoying what is, for me, a semi-retired life. We love to travel and cook together. Several afternoons a week are spent caring for my mother who suffers from dementia and lives in a memory care facility in Willow Park. My hobby is making small items out of clay, firing and glazing them. My latest artistic motto is that my finished work is always “free to a good home.”
