Brent has served on church vestries and at the altar for three separate churches, including Senior Warden, vestry clerk, and treasurer for one. Currently for the Episcopal Church of Wichita Falls, he serves as Acolyte Master, Eucharistic Minister, on the Altar Guild, and coordinates the printing of the bulletins, music selections, readers, and servers for Sunday Eucharist. Both in Dallas and Fort Worth, he has served as delegate to Diocesan Conventions. He has been very involved in the diocese since 2008; positions have included Executive Council (a six-year period), Disciplinary Board (a three-year term), and Finance Committee (currently). Attending the last two General Conventions, he was an alternate lay deputy for the Episcopal Diocese of Fort Worth in 2012 and the fourth lay deputy in 2015. Locally, he also serves as a board member, currently secretary, and volunteer of Interfaith Ministries in Wichita Falls.
A Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Texas, Brent retired from 30 years of public service with the mentally ill and then worked 10 years in family violence with Air Force families. Currently he works part-time at Midwestern State University. He has also been married 46 years; he has three children and five grandchildren.
