In adulthood, I found the Episcopal Church in the Diocese of Northwest Texas at St. Mark’s, Coleman. A mission, sometimes without a priest, but always with Sam Hulsey our bishop and priest who led by example and encouraged lay leadership. I came to Northeast Tarrant County practicing family law, probate, and bankruptcy. Several years were spent conducting 341 meetings and teaching financial management classes for the Chapter 13 bankruptcy trustees in the DFW area. Over the years, I have heard the stories of hundreds people in very difficult and desperate circumstances. My goal has been to listen thoughtfully then help them recognize and accept where they are, and offer information, advice, and encouragement to rekindle their hope for the future. Today, I manage two companies that provide financial counseling and education and practice probate law. My home church is St. Stephen’s, Hurst (in the Plaza) where I have served on the vestry and the committee that participated in the Episcopal Church Building Fund (ECBF) Recasting Program for the Fort Worth Diocese in 2013-2014. I read Morning Prayer on Wednesday mornings and keep track of our Prayer List.
