Daughters of the King

Daughters of the King

ROLE

The Order of the Daughters of the King (DOK) is a prayer Logo- Daughters of the Kingand service Order for women and girls (7-18 yrs.) in the Episcopal, Anglican, Roman Catholic and Evangelical Lutheran Church of America.  We take lifetime vows to pray daily for our clergy, our parish/mission, and for all women and girls, especially for those in our Order.

  • President – Sidea Miranda
  • Vice President – Donna Clopton
  • Treasurer – Elosie Frye

CHAPTERS

Several congregations in the diocese have active Daughters of the King chapters:

  • St. Stephen’s, Hurst
  • St. Christopher, Fort Worth
  • St. Alban’s, Arlington
  • St. Martin-in-the-Fields, Keller
  • Trinity, Fort Worth
  • St. Francis, Willow Park – also a St. Mary chapter of Junior Daughters
  • St. Mary’s, Hillsboro
  • Episcopal Church of Wise County (forming)

ACTIVITIES

We have individual chapters of at least three members in parishes/missions who meet regularly; we pay dues to the Order annually, and have a Diocesan board, Provincial Board and National Council who provide additional structure to our Order.  We elect our own leaders and govern ourselves.  We have assemblies to gather at each of the levels mentioned earlier and provide a community for prayer, worship, mission and ministry.  We are prohibited from raising money other than from our dues and donations to the Funds of the Order:  Masters Fund (scholarships to women in pursuit of education to further their ministry callings), Endowment Fund (to support the work of the Order, Self-Denial Fund (to support missionaries throughout the world), and the Alpha Fund (supporting our Jr. Daughters ministries)

GOALS AND PLANS

We will send DOK representatives from The Episcopal Diocese of Fort Worth to Diocesan and Provincial Assemblies and the National DOK and Jr. DOK Triennial. Our President serves on the Province 7 Board. We have a Diocesan Board consisting of diocesan officers and chapter presidents, whose responsibilities include the gathering of and prayerful support of our sisters-in-Christ in chapters, Daughters-at-Large and Jr. Daughters. All Daughters in the diocese gather for an assembly at least once a year; we encourage all Daughters to attend the Province 7 assembly annually and the national Triennial right before each General Convention. We will pray for the Diocesan Convention and Bishop of our diocese. Individually, our members are active in worship and ministry in our parishes/missions and the diocese both.

MINISTRY IN RELATION TO OTHER MINISTRIES AND TO THE MISSION OF THE DIOCESE

We support all ministries in our parishes/missions and Diocese through our prayers, presence and participation. The object of this Order is the extension of Christ’s Kingdom through Prayer, Service and Evangelism.  We support the mission and ministry of our diocese through our prayers and service working together to share the Good News and bring others to Christ. The Order of the Daughters of the King is structured independently within the diocese, but exists at the invitation of our Bishop, and within a parish/mission at the invitation of the Rector/Vicar/Priest-in-Charge.
