The season of the church year after the day of Pentecost is sometimes called “Ordinary Time” and sometimes it’s called simply “the season after Pentecost.” This time of year is often described as the “long green growing season” because the liturgical color is green, and it’s the time of the church year when there is opportunity to dig into any kind of topic for learning or exploring and growing in faith.
It can also represent the period of time from the day of Pentecost until the present, as the church has grown and expanded around the world.
The very last day of the church calendar year is Christ the King, which represents the hope of Jesus’ coming again.
