Sacraments are outward and visible signs of inward and spiritual grace. They are spiritual markers in our journey of faith, and help us see and experience God always at work around us.
There are two great sacraments of the Gospel, given by Christ to his Church: Holy Baptism and Holy Communion (or Holy Eucharist or the Lord’s Supper). Other sacraments in The Episcopal Church include Confirmation (the mature affirmation of our baptismal vows), Reconciliation of a Penitent (private confession), Marriage, Unction (anointing with oil those who are sick or dying), and Ordination.
