General Convention Deputation

The 80th General Convention was held in July of 2022.

What is the General Convention?

The General Convention of The Episcopal Church is the bicameral (two-house) governing body of the Church, held once every three years. It is comprised of the House of Bishops, with upwards of 200 active and retired bishops, and the House of Deputies, with clergy and lay representatives elected from the 110 dioceses of the Church, at more than 800 members. Several interim bodies also carry on work in between conventions.

The Episcopal Church Women (ECW) triennial meeting convenes in the same location July 5 – 11. The General Convention website has attendee information, calendars and schedules.

How can I volunteer?

The 2021 General Convention will be hosted by the Diocese of Maryland. Because arrangements for the convention are still being discussed in light of the Covid-19 pandemic, no volunteers are being sought at this time.
