fourth sunday of lent, March 27, 2022

On the fourth Sunday of Lent, we are featuring St. Mary’s  Episcopal Church in Hillsboro, the oldest continuing Episcopal parish in the Episcopal Church in North Texas, having been founded in 1872. For 150 years, the faithful members of this congregation have carried out the mission and ministry of The Episcopal Church, obeying Jesus’ command to love God and love our neighbors as ourselves.

They will celebrate their 150^th Anniversary on Saturday, March 26, with a reception from 6:30 to 8:30 at their building at 301 South Waco Street, Hillsboro. The celebration will continue with their worship service at 11 am Sunday, March 27. Bishop Scott Mayer will preside and the Rev. Paula Jefferson will preach. The service will be live streamed here.

Third sunday in lent, march 20, 2022

On the Third Sunday in Lent, March 20, 2022, we are featuring the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, 4530 Acton Highway, Granbury. They will live stream their service at 9:30 am on their Facebook Page as well as broadcast to their church parking lot on  FM radio @ 93.5.

The Very Rev. Doug Travis is the priest in charge. The Rev. Leslie Guinn is assisting clergy. Dr. Iwao Asakura is the director of music arts, and Ms. Mitzi Ames is the organist.

transfiguration sunday, february 27, 2022

On Transfiguration Sunday, February 27, 2022,  we are featuring the 9:30 am worship service of St. Christopher Episcopal Church, worshiping at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, 5709 Wedgwood, Fort Worth, TX, 76133.  The service is live streamed here.

St. Christopher is one of the congregations that lost their building when the Texas Supreme Court awarded Episcopal Church property to people who left The Episcopal Church, which is why they are currently worshiping in St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church. Nevertheless their outreach and ministry continues. Every third Saturday, for example, their Laundry Love ministry provides free laundry service for those in need at Tarrant Laundry, 5866 S. Hulen, Fort Worth.

In 2008, the Episcopalians of Good Shepherd were forced out of their historic building and found alternative worship spaces, where they thrived. Since September 22, 2019, the congregation has been in their brand new building, located on Acton Highway between Granbury and Acton, at 4530 Acton Highway, Granbury/Acton.
