Bishop calls diocese into Lenten fast from public worship

Bishop Scott Mayer has sent a letter to the diocese suspending in-person worship for at least the next two weeks, calling us into a Lenten Fast from public worship.

He wrote, “It is important for the Church to model responsibility during this very serious moment.  It is going to take all of us to slow the spread of this virus – which will save lives. . .

“The love of neighbor needs to be our guide in this moment.  In a time of crisis, we need community.  This particular crisis has the effect of separating us, so we need to find creative ways of being in community.  This Sunday the diocese will offer Eucharist through Facebook Live. You can find more information and download the service leaflet at https://episcopaldiocesefortworth.org/diocese-to-offer-online-worship-each-sunday/  ”

He closed by reminding us that nothing, neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, can separate us from the love of God.
